After many years in the antiques trade, I learned how to do my own reupholstery reasonably well, but sadly when it came to barrel chairs, I would usually pass on them when I saw them for sale, and I would always refuse to recover them for clients - they are just too difficult even for a reasonably experienced upholsterer. Straight back and sides I could manage, but many of the older chairs had tufted or ribbed backs, which involves an incredible amount of work, and if the fabric is patterned, they can look like a dog's dinner when you've finished.
The average wine barrel effectively ages wine for about 5 years. By then, the wine barrel has imparted its flavorings of oak and is no longer aging and enhancing the wine's bouquet or flavor.
Buyers are able to customize their barrel furniture to create a unique accent piece for their homes. Coffee tables and end tables can be customized based on the unique taste of the customer. The pieces will reflect the deep natural color of the original fermenting wine within the barrel. Each piece is a reflection of the creativity of the artist and delivers an exceptional charm to a home.
The person not only can cover the chair with a new cloth but can also make them fit in well with their current home decor. Padding the old furniture again surely helps to make them more comfortable. Putting a graphic fabric covering as a barrel chair slipcover enhances its beauty and brings back that contemporary feel to it. If the person wants to add a designer touch to his old furniture, one can always use contrasting welting on it.
