If you are looking for the perfect chair to accent your living room furniture, a leather recliner is probably your best bet. Keep in mind however, that if you need the back of the chair to rest against a wall, a non-reclining lounge chair would be better suited. It might also help you to decide whether you would rather have a standalone ottoman, or a built-in foot rest. Some recliners have foot rests that automatically deploy when reclining. This would not be ideal with a standalone ottoman.
There might be occasion where it isn't a straight forward job and needs some more serious work, if there is wood missing or broken for example. You will need to find an experienced joiner to take on the task for you, unless of course you are an experienced joiner yourself. They will be able to find the correct wood grain and finish that you require. If the wood has a stained finish they will be able to work out exactly what you need to get the finish looking as genuine as possible.
Leather does have its drawbacks however. It could retain a temperature that is well above or below the ambient temperature of a given room for example. This could make it uncomfortable to sit on initially. But the user's body temperature quickly adjusts to the temperature disparity.
Make Rooms Look Bigger - Something else these chairs will do is make the room look and feel bigger than it actually is. The reason rooms look bigger is because the chairs distract people from what is going on around it and draw their attention right to the chair. This is a good thing to do if you want people to focus on a certain part of the room. One thing I would warn you about is that using more than one accent chair in a room can be a little confusing, so don't do it.
